I was tucked in bed at 2am this morning and had to get up for work at 6am. Great thinking, Grace! I didn’t want to take too many days off work as we’re about to head on over to Calgary and with no jobs lined up so naturally I was thinking of my bank balance but not my sleepy sleepy mind and body.
As I drove to work, thoughts of the ocean continued to replay on mind like a beautiful mix tape stuck in the tape deck of your car, replaying over and over again. Those sweet sounds of the waves crashing down, the smell of the sea salt and the freshness you feel when you dive in for your morning wake me up swim. I definitely needed that wake me up swim this morning but instead I was greeted with ice on the roads. Oh what a delight! If you’ve never driven in winter, you’re in for a real treat and when I say treat I mean hold onto your seatbelt and hope you make it to work in one piece!
Thoughts of the ocean kept spilling into my mind all day and blissfully so. I am always amazed at the sheer power of the waves crashing down and it still reminds me of everything good growing up as a child. I was incredibly lucky to have such wonderful parents that placed such importance on raising us kids in a beautiful tropical climate that allowed us to grow up and become anyone we wanted to be.
I will always call the Sunshine Coast home yet I don’t know that I will ever return to that exact spot, however, I do know that I want to live blissfully by the ocean when I eventually return.
Give yourself some time to reminisce on your favourite childhood memories, you won’t regret it.
